Swing and Jazz

Glenn Miller anyone? Do you remember Ellington? Then there’s Sinatra and friends, of course. The Big Band sounds are so special and the rhythms, certainly infectious. Whether you, ‘Take The “A” Train’ or ‘Chattanooga Choo Choo,’ to say, ‘Hello Dolly,’ or think that the ‘Lady is a Tramp,’ you will always get some of these wonderful songs in my shows.

Jazz standards come in many different shades depending on whether they were written by Jazz musicians or were songs ‘borrowed’ from shows and musicals. Either way, my repertoire includes such wonderful melodies as ‘Summertime,’ ‘Autumn Leaves,’ ‘A Foggy Day in London Town,’ ‘Pennies From Heaven’ and ‘Fly Me to The Moon.’ I also like to include request items such as, ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing if It Ain’t Got That Swing,’ and ‘Ain’t What You Do it’s the Way That You Do It!.’

The three instruments that I play jazz interludes on are my wonderful ‘Taylor’ trumpet, my cornet, flugelhorn and pBone. I also colour the sounds with a variety of mutes which give an extra dimension to the overall effect of my performances.
